If you already know that you have any kind of vision impairment and already wear glasses, you unfortunately cannot simply apply the prescription strength used for your glasses and apply them to contact lenses. You will need to have a comprehensive contact lens exam and fitting first. Our eye doctors here at our

First, Dr. Tran or Dr. Tan will thoroughly examine your eyes and determine whether they can handle regular contact lens wear. Individuals who have certain allergic conditions or eye problems, such as dry eye syndrome, may not be able to wear contact lenses on a daily or even regular basis. Once your eyes have been examined, our eye doctors can begin to determine your contact lens prescription. The prescription strength needed for contacts differs from glasses because they are used at a different distance. Since glasses rest on the bridge of the nose and contacts rest on your eyes, contacts do not need to be as strong as glasses. The difference will be minute, but makes a big difference.
